There are four courses in the Visual Arts Program at Cypress Lake Middle School that focus on the progressive growth of students as artists. Students consistently develop and measure growth in 4 major areas - Skills and Techniques, Creative Thinking, Self-Regulation, and Reflection - using a scale of beginning to exceeding for each.

Here is what grading growth progression looks like.

Quarterly check-ins to review student growth on each of the three measurement scales

A numerical score is calculated based on student progression in all 12 indicators

Numerical scores are translated to a letter grade using an adjusted scale

Growth Measurements Grades are balanced with Classroom Activity Grades to produce a final course grade.
