In a            classroom, you will have due dates and quality requirements for                         projects. You will decide the best way for         to meet these expectations

You are going to be coming up with your own projects in this class. This means you will pick a theme and decide how to interpret it- what your art will look like, what it will be made with, what techniques you will use.

You are going to be coming up with your own projects in this class. This means you will pick a theme and decide how to interpret it- what your art will look like, what it will be made with, what techniques you will use.

Make
Big Plans

You will need to do all of the planning your art teacher normally does. But don't worry, you will have plenty of tools and strategies to help you with this part. The most important of those is your smARTbook

Practice Pages

Learn and practice different art techniques with the practice pages in your smARTbook. It will help you figure out what you will use to make your projects.

Project Pages

You will create a vision board to help you explore, record, and test out ideas you have for interpreting a project theme.

You will have a due date for your project planning pages and practice pages to help you stay on track. And, we will always review your project plan together before you start to help you reach your artistic goals.

Ready to get started?!

First things first

go to the projects section in your smartbook. you will find a project theme at the top of every page. pick one (or two) themes that interest you and paint a background on the vision board/left-side page. What colors, emotions, and movements do you think of when you read the theme? This is how you should paint the background.

Now write down some ideas

for one or more of the themes write down some ideas on the planning/right-side page where it says "ideas".

First, write down the worst possible most basic idea you can come up with. Seriously.

Then, write down three really good ideas. talk about them out with me or classmates if you need.

Where to go next

There are different ways you can go next.  Before you begin your project, you need to complete a vision board and complete two practice pages. Take a look at the planning/right-side page. Do you have a medium in mind for your project?

If you know the medium you want to use, you can go to the practice section of your smartbook and find the two practice pages that match what you want to do. if you aren't sure, you can also use the practice pages to explore new media and see if want to use it.

If you don't have a clear idea of what you want to do yet for a project theme, working on your vision board can help you develop your ideas. Begin searching for reference and inspiration photos or sketch out what some of your ideas might look like.
